Bye Bye Spirit.

This is the last pic front the Mars rover, Spirit.

Farewell Spirit, you did well.

I want to see mining robots. I feel it's the only way we'll see manned missions to the Moon and Mars.

Now that's a very cool image!

I would post a link to one of my favorite APOD images, but I'm still on probation.   :)

I am fairly selective of what I post here. All are good, some more sciencey, some more good pics.

I recommend checking out APOD every day.

Some recent links...

Eclipsed Moon in the Milky Way.

I've made a Google Gadget for my home page that shows a thumb of the current APOD image, along with the description for the page. APOD has been on my "MUST visit" list for a number of years now.

There have been some good pics in APOD recently inc. the one I made the latest wallpaper from.

This is todays (31st Aug) and is a roll cloud. I have seen this before over Brighton but no where near this big.

Made me go wow. Link here. This one is in Wisconsin.

Found this cool time lapse video taken from the ISS on APOD.

Video is on Vimeo so here's the HD link...

Thanks, that was great  8)

Looks so nice from up there.

DaveMorton

I agree with Freddy. Great stuff, Snowy! Thank you! :)

I tried to identify the places the ISS was passing over by the patterns of the city lights, but I was only able to positively identify Egypt in a couple of scenes. Anyone recognize any other places?

Enjoyed that, thanks Snowy, pretty sure I saw Italy around 02:10.
It WILL be fine !...

DaveMorton

If I knew what the "real time" indexes were for the video (and the playback speed), I could write a script in Celestia to mimic the view, and then run the script slower, to pick out more geography. :)

(actually, that sounds like a neat sort of challenge. Hmmm...)
