Lighter colours reflect light so you want the panels to be dark to absorb.   


It uses a Sodium-nickel chloride battery, first I've heard of them.

Yes, should have remembered my Physics lessons.

It looks like a beast to me too. I'd only consider buying one (if I had the money) if I was going to take a year out to go travelling around the country or something.

I had to find a little more info on the solar cell,

Seems pretty similar to the Peltier that converts electrical energy to cooling and heating.
