Are we in a Simulation?

I just watched the video and it makes me think of a a branch of math in which there are two possible outcomes for an equation.  It has been some time since I had read about this so it is difficult to go into more detail but it suggest there are two different outcomes and for this to be true one of the outcomes has to be in a different world.

Since the beginning of the human race man has been asking:

The quest continues. 

I personally am on the side of science over religion, If something can happen then at some point in time it will happen. 

I have brought up to think of things in a scientific manner but find it difficult at times and think religion is needed.  To me it gets confusing at times because we have made all the definitions.  Back to religion it has given us the ten commandments, this is how we are to behave, we shall not kill that has been made into a law and law is considered a science.  There are some things I don't understand but feel there are reasons for the behavior like a babe nursing on a breast, how dose it know that is the correct behavior, I'd guess all mammals react the same way.  There is a reason for this but how and why is what I don't know so possibly there is a God.  Amazing the bees live and work, they make honey that lasts for thousands of years and the class structure a bee attains is dictated by what it is fed. The queen bee mates only once but produces thousands of offspring.

A Law is not science. A law is a creation and label of man's doing, not anything else.

There are civil laws, religious laws and laws of nature, etc. They all exist within their own construct/environment and rarely cross over to become factual with each other.

Religion was adopted to keep people in line for fear of some "All knowing being" enforcing retribution if they were broken or not adhered to. Some religious laws were founded in principle due to their practical nature for instance those 10 commandments. They made good sense for a guide to living ones life in a just and decent manner.

The crowds carrying pitchforks and torches and public stoning are pretty much gone (with the exception of some hate groups perhaps), thus our modern laws and policing have taken up where the Roman guards and centurions left off.

Face it, without rules and laws we would be no better than animals...which in some instances, I'm sad to say, we almost are.

Today we have science at the forefront of our lives and many of the things that are commonplace now would have been thought miraculous back then or even 50 years ago!

Many have made choices for their own lives, some try to mix some of the old with some of the new and that's fine. Whatever works best for each of us, providing we do not try to impose our beliefs on others.

Live and let live and try to be more tolerant of the shortcomings of others and the disappointments of life.

So Freddy I agree mostly with with what you have said but seeing how man has manipulated the law or rules to justify killing the pagans ( the church okayed killing pagans because they were not Christians ) or a government sending solders to kill the enemy.
  "To learn, we must question.."  and when we question we must use a scientific method to find the answer.  But again we have a problem because now I am learning from online sources what I was taught in school was wrong because of new scientific discoveries so we continue to manipulate.
  I'll also add many leaders of early governments were said to be considered gods.
On a personal note I'll add that I've begun to think of Christ as a rebel,

I find the main problem with the human condition is dogma, in all its forms.
As soon as you believe anything you are told because you can't question it, you're in trouble.
Most good things start with a guess, from there you make predictions and try to falsify them. If you can't falsify them, you have a good theory. You then build on it. If later evidence says your theory is wrong, then it's wrong and your belief has to change. But you go with the biggest body of evidence and don't cherry pick.
A problem with the human condition is we have to believe things we are told because we do not have the time to gather all evidence for all things. One person cannot know the sum of all human knowledge. This can leave us open to incorrect but plausible arguments. I'm still working on that one.
The only constant is change.

Possibly AI will be able to help us, I've heard it has been able to find solutions to problems that humans were unable to find.  But then we have to say what we want to know or learn.  Alexa is already great at this.
  So the original question was "Are we in a Simulation? "and at this time I have no idea about how to answer that.

Is there a God or many Gods? Is there life after death? Is there one or are there perhaps many parallel universes? Are there multiple copies of us existing on other Earths in these other universes? Are we in a Simulation and if so, who created it, who is supervising or overseeing it/us?

I'm afraid there are far too many questions the answers for which remain unanswerable...at least for now. They do however, give us pause to reflect, ponder and formulate our own positions or possibilities for them.
More importantly...we must still...Question Everything!

My opinion...
Do we live in a simulation? No. It would be far more difficult to simulate reality than to just live in it.
Do we live in a multiverce? No. There is some lovely, elegant math that points us in that direction but no evidence.
Is string theory correct? No. From what I've seen it requires 10 spacial dimensions (possibly 11) and all the tests we've done on relativity says there are 3 and no more.
Is there a God? No. Having an omnipotent being goes against entropy. Assuming he does exist, why would he require worship?
Will we have AI. Yes. We already have it. It is very good at working out answers to very specific questions and a very good tool. It is not alive.
Will we ever create living AI? Possibly but be careful what you wish for. It would have its own aims and be able to replicate.

I watched the entire video and feel like I've been handed a bunch of BS.  Getting back to  Are we in a simulation I'll say when we dream, wake up and think about the dream we realize the dream is not reality and disregard it.  Now I'll go a bit further, suppose a reliable person tells us something new, we take this to be true and then for some reason we tell another person that tells someone else ect.  So possibly we have created another the world is flat.  An untrue fact stated in good faith to many people.
On religion I'll go back to the Egyptians,  first I'll state the ruler had access to calendars and knew when the rivers would flood and deposit good soil and he was able to get the farmers to plant because of his special knowledge.  The ruler was though of as a good and on his death he was given special ceremonies
to be sure he had a good after life. I really believe Jesus knew of this which is why we have a heaven.
I could go back to the gorilla as an authority figure, he was larger had more knowledge of the food and plant as well as the other animals, a child would do its best to remain in good standing or would be swiftly pushed aside.

I found the Alan Watts video to be very down to earth, a breath of fresh air, hey! we all need fresh air to breath don't we  

Possibly we do all think too much sometimes, maybe we are just what we are. ( whatever that is )  

Some things puzzle me though:

  Why do we have a guilty conscience when we do something we feel is wrong ?

  Feelings, what are they, are they reality or just our minds playing tricks on us ?  

If all there is is what we see and feel then what are radio waves ( as an example ).  
We know what radio waves are because science discovered them, there is more to the universes than we originally thought.

I believe we have not reached full understanding yet and maybe we never will but science is a quest for truth.

Truth = good,  no matter how bad it is    

Just don't hurt anyone's feelings  

Them feelings can really get in the way can't they ?  

I had a part time job delivering the local news paper and got feedback on complaints, when speaking with my boss about complaints and he said I know you delivered that news paper because I saw you deliver it.  So from his response I decided don't let this bother you, don't dwell on it.  And then there is the problem of over thinking about something, something a person says or something that happened and you spend time trying to figure out why did she say that or why did that happen.  A waste of time don't dwell on it because if you if you think you've found a reason that is not correct you move away from reality.
  Now if we have a religious person that strongly believes in god and somehow science proves there is no God is that person moving away from reality?  Freedom of religion is considered by many people and most of the nations to be a fundamental human right so are we advocating insanity.  Well we make up the rules and when we do we create these problems.  I've been seeing a lot of these problems occur because of the virus, evictions for non payment of rent while people are unemployed, the bankrupt companies and states.  Well enough said
