Just read this on BadAstronomy Blog (http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2012/08/25/neil-armstrong-1930-2012/)...

Neil Armstrong has died aged 82. Dr Plait states it more eloquently than me.

Yes a legend and an incredibly brave man.

I liked the statement from the family too.

The man who inspired a generation and took us from homo sapiens terrestrialis to homo sapiens cosmos.

I like that phrase. Long may he live in our collective memory.

Neil, don't listen to these people! You've a whole new realm to explore! PLEASE! Get out there and EXPLORE!!! That's what God made you for!

And know that we poor, Earth bound folks miss you.
