Hi all,

My mate's son is about to embark on building his first games PC. I was wondering what would be the best specs for a £1000 budget Inc everything (monitor to mouse).
I will post their ideas when I get home on Tuesday.

I know Data has a smart meter. I just changed my energy supplier and am wondering what benefits smart meters bring. Mainly because my old supplier said I had to have one fitted, but I couldn't be bothered with the fuss.

For years I have just been doing readings and submitting them (or they do), and that seemed sufficient to know how much energy I use.

I've cut my electricity usage down with LED bulbs and a fluorescent was fitted in the bath room. So that's seems good.

But does a smart meter help reduce energy usage even more ?

Data, you did comment on this one time, but I forget where now :scratch-head:

Thanks :)

Thought this was interesting and topical.

QuoteIn a soccer match between Iran and Denmark, an Iranian player mistook a whistle from the crowd as being the referee's half-time signal, and picked the ball up with his hands in the penalty area. Danish player Morten Wieghorst missed the resultant penalty on purpose, and Denmark lost 1–0.

"The referee gave Denmark a penalty kick, but following consultation with national team coach Morten Olsen, Wieghorst missed the penalty on purpose as a token of fair play, and Denmark lost 1–0. The incident made CNN's "Play of the Day" of 2 February 2003, and Wieghorst received an Olympic Committee fair play award. He was selected the 2003 Danish Player of the Year. He played his last national team game in April 2004, a 1–0 friendly match win against Scotland.

Lovely looking game. Mushrooms are BIG here on an island called Vvardenfell. The graphics are better than LOTRO and any MMO I have played. It's a nice game, I'm really enjoying it, so I bought a six month 'plus' subscription. There's a lot to figure out, which I enjoy too.

I had played the Beta back in 2014, but whatever I didn't like then must have changed as I'm finding it to be nice to play apart from learning new camera controls.

I had this running on 3 screens at 5760 x 1080, but the GPU was hitting 82C - which is apparently okay, but I didn't like all the heat coming out the back. It did have everything on ultra high though ! Also I don't like the fish eye effect you always get with that. Besides it looks better when on my 1440 main screen anyway as one screen, so that's what I have gone for as I can get ultra high settings on that and it keeps around 60C or so.

Just a couple of screenshots.

Hi guys, hope you are all well?

So looking for a little advice regarding the laptop I bought my daughter last year. It is this:

HP Stream 11-r000na 11.6-Inch HD Laptop (Cobalt blue) - (Intel Celeron N3050, 2 GB RAM, 32GB eMMC, 100 GB OneDrive - 2year subscription included, Intel HD graphics, Windows 10)

Now it's a lovely looking little lappy, perfect in that respect for a 9 year old, but it is ridiculously slow. For instance if you load a Web page with an inbedded video it hangs and never loads.

So I can now see why she never uses it, I want to get some use out of it do I haven't wasted my money, so any advice on how to speed it up a bit?

I get its not going to play games too well as its nowhere near powerful enough but at the moment it's not really that usable which is a shame.

Thanks guys 8)
