As has been mentioned in various places, both here and elsewhere, many people consider that M$ made a mistake with Windows 8 with it's removal of the "classic" start menu and it's accompanying Start Button. This has, of course, been addressed in various ways through some 3rd party software. Gossip now has it that Windows 8.1 may bring the start menu/button back, but I'm not holding my breath. Instead, I decided to use the "3rd party option", and use StarDock's solution, Start8 (I may have mentioned this before). Anyway, one of the features of Start8 is that you can "skin" the start button fairly easily, and I've done so with my setup, and I've created what I consider to be some pretty cool Start Button icons for it, and on the off chance that someone else here is also using Start8, I thought I'd share. The zip file (provided I can post it here) contains these images, plus a couple more. If I can't post it here, I'll upload it to my site and post a link.

Anyone have a gloss finish monitor they could tell me about ?

I'm looking at some nice 27" IPS monitors and some are matte and others are gloss screen.

My current monitor is matte and handles reflections okay, they are minimal. But I don't know what a gloss finish screen looks like, do they reflect a lot ? For example my bezel is gloss piano finish and you can see reflections clearly in that.

I am in a room where the window is behind me, so I am concerned that if I get a gloss finish screen, all I am going to see is reflections.

Any thoughts please ?

Today is the 70th annivrsary of the infamous Dams raid by 617 squadron of RAF bomber command.

Here is footage taken from inside the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight's Lancaster "City of Lincoln" as it made a low level flypast over Derwent Dam in the United Kingdom.

This dam was used by 617 squadron during training for the raid hence being used in todays flypast.

I would suggest turning the sound up for best effect of the 4 sycronised Merlin engines
