Hi guys

I have just bought Mrs DD a nice shiny new Sony Vaio laptop that has win8 installed on it.

Now I'm having to learn the new system as I've never touched before myself and I'm a bit more tech savvy than my darling wife, although as I'm sure you have worked out already i'm far from an expert either

I'm doing pretty well so far, worked out the basics of moving around the screens etc, but I have come to a snag, I can't seem to download apps rom the app store.

Origianlly I set up the laptop with the wrong location, no big deal i sorted that out thinking that would cure the issue but to no avail.

Any ideas anyone?

I watched Skyfull last night, was worth watching, pretty good film, I would probably give it 4 out of 5.

Got it from Sainsburys, they had a deal on, spend £30 in store and get the Blu Ray for £12, it came with the a DVD and Blu Ray in the box.

I been doing some research on tables the last couple of days. Why you ask? Positive thinking is my answer Taxes are getting done tomorrow and my fingers are crossed for a +return.

Features I found during my research that I would like to have.

1) Gorilla glass 2, great for keeping the screen from getting scratches.
2) 10.1 to a 11.6 display

Features I need:

1) Wacom drivers for s-pen, seems there are a few different companies but Wacom is the best. I will not settle for less here.
2) windows 8 or windows 8 pro, no windows 8 rt
3) at least 64 gb ssd for storage or more, with a way to add more through micro or mini card
4) mic input
5) full size usb

Most listed above are the new atom based, which limits the units to only 2gigs of ddr2 memory and usb 2.0 both of which are sort of outdated tech. but on the other hand it makes them lighter, fanless and gives more battery life. Also it tends to keep cost down. However I like performance and the Surface pro is the only one on the list with a core i5 which I know would be best for my needs and wants, but it also comes with the higher price. though the surface pro 64 gb ssd model is still with-in price range.

Questions
1) Do you guys have any windows 8 tablet that you like? if so which ones and why.
2) Do you guys have or know of any of listed tablets above or others that I may find of interest?

As many of you will already know, we have an Asteroid the size of an Olympic Swimming Pool heading our way. It is going to miss, but not by much, less than one LD.

Two things are really annoying me at the moment.

One is 4OD (channel 4 on demand TV). It's crap. This is the message I just sent to them...

4OD has made my PS3 crash twice now. I find trying to skip to where you left off very annoying due to the amount of adverts I have to sit through (about 15 odd). It then errored and went back to the beginning. I tried to watch it on my PC but got cheesed off with going through the crappy adverts again and gave up. The quality via the PS3 is poor and very jerky. Overall this is the worst site it has been my misfortune to use and I will not be back. Why wouldn't I pirate your programmes? It's easier and better quality!

Second is BT. They have added £2 to my bill which is not much. But it's for "not meeting minimum call requirements". I very rarely use the home phone 'cos I use my mobile (cell), I just have the line for the net and incoming calls. I often have no or less than 2 calls per month and have never been charged before for not using the phone. I am incenced at paying any money for not using something. I feel a lengthy phone call coming on. Hopefully it will meet their minimum requirements.

My instance of Trinity Chat Bot for my website is down, due to it not playing nicely with php 5.4 however Program-o is working on this, well I should say Dave is working this

Also Trinity the fortune teller is still up but not running due to it needing some maintenance. This may be a while before I can get to her, due to getting my new website theme finished and the S.I. Chat Bot league up and going.

My desktop instance of Trinity (ulta Hal) is up and working great, but not fully integrated with all other programs I built.
