Found this at BBC news site.

Do we finally have the technology to put Moon hoax theories to bed?

And this from NASA at the LRO site.

Or not...

Found this cartoon linked from Bad Astronomy Blog site and though I'd share 'cos it made me laugh.

This was posted over on Ai Dreams, it made me laugh at the same time as thinking how clever the chat bots are getting.

Or more properly named "P/2008 R1 (Garradd)". Needs a better name as this guy has found at least 3.

Anyway, it is only visible with a medium to large scope at the mo. but reaches perihelion on 2013, Jan 25th.
Not sure of its current magnitude but it should get to mag 6. That's just about visible with the naked eye with very dark skies. i.e. not England :'( Bins or any scope will show it.
It has just past M71 (29th Aug 2011). There's a video here but it's a link to a main page that changes daily.

Hoping for a new moon and clear skies around perihelion time.

This is a little poem by Tim Minchin called "Storm". He is brilliant.

Contains strong language. Do not watch if easily offended.
