The presenter was involved in the accident at a Swiss mountain race while filming for his TV show.

The 47-year-old suffered a fractured knee while racing an electric super car, but was not seriously injured.

Hammond's friend and fellow presenter Jeremy Clarkson described it as the "biggest" and "most frightening" crash he had ever seen, adding in a Twitter post: "Thankfully, Richard seems to be mostly OK."

No real idea there of why it happened though yet.

He lost control on a corner, the back end went and caused the crash.

He is one lucky chap, I make that 3 serious accidents that he's survived.

OUCH! That looks nasty. Certainly glad he wasn't more seriously injured. Hammond was my favorite presenter on Top Gear. James was the funniest, but Richard was more likeable.

I remember the one with the jet car, what was the other one ? :scratch-head:

He had a bike accident in March this year, maybe not quite as dramatic but he did get injured.
