It seems that Netflix is available for UK subscribers. Their rate is broken down into three options:

£6.99 per month The cheapest membership allows subscribers to watch on one device at a time in standard definition

£10.99 per month Standard subscription - Viewers can watch in HD and on two devices at a time.

£15.99 per month Premium subscription - Viewers can watch in Ultra HD where available, on four devices at a time.

A bit cheaper than here in the US but still a lot of positive things going for it like mainly No Adverts!! That alone is a big win for me! Plus, I don't have to wait until next week to watch the next episode instead, I can binge-watch as much or as many as I like!

With hundreds of different films from which to choose, it's a big win-win for us retired folk! ;)

Thanks Art, I might give it a go. I had a look for a movie list on their site but couldn't find one - do they publish all the titles they offer anywhere?

My problem is that I'm very much against the idea of monthly subscriptions, unless it's absolutely vital I'm too much of a tight git to do it  :D

Art

Can't say for sure but you might try one of these links...

@Data,
The small amount is automatically deducted from your bank account each month and they send you an email to that effect. You actually never miss it and you get hours of uninterrupted viewing of hundreds of potentially favorite genres and movies! Think of how much you and the Mrs. would spend per movie! Think of watching a cable or dish-based TV show and how many of those 5-minute commercial interruptions you have to contend with!!
For us, this is the best of the best. Any type of show from Drama, Comedy, Documentary, Terror, Horror, Sci-Fi, Western, Mystery, Childrens shows, Cartoons, etc.

It all depends on what you feel is important to your way of life. We're retired and do not have 30 years left and we're able to afford $15 / month so for us, this is a great entertainment value.

You pay for water, electricity (whatever form...nothing is free), garbage disposal, groceries, vehicle maintenance, insurance, medical, clothing, taxes, etc...and on...

The tiny sum of £6.99 to £10.99 per month seems quite reasonable but we each have our priorities and likes.

Cheers!!

Freddy

Thanks a bunch Art  (see I know some of the US language ;) )

I'll give it a go for a couple of months and see how much I use it. I do have Amazon Prime already, so I get a lot of free movies on that, but it's often the case that the one I want to watch at the time has to be payed for.

Cheers  ;D

Art it's not you it's me at fault  ;D

Art

No Data,,,It's neither of us my friend...it was just me presenting some of the more positive benefits of using that service.

Bottom line, while it might not be right or fit everyone's needs, it does fill a need for my wife and me and we're ok with that.

Next year, if their prices continue to increase, we might have to find a more suitable entertainment venue.

To each their own...

Best for you and yours!
