Smoke me a Kipper I'll be back for breakfast - Ace Rimmer

Freddy

Interesting story

I know Rollo Carpenter, I interviewed him when he won the Loebner Prize.

Data

My gut feeling.

We will not see full artificial intelligence in our lifetimes, so really it doesn't worry me.

As I've said in other threads "we don't even understand the human mind yet" let alone how to make an artificial one. Long way to go.

Snowcrash

We don't understand what sparks life into being. Doesn't stop us cloning animals.

With the latest self learning algorithms, the machines program themselves. As this tech progresses we could hit a conscience complexity tipping point. Who knows.

Interesting read there DD.

Quote"We dramatically underestimate the complexity of the natural world and the human mind, "he explains. "Take any speculation that full AI is imminent with a big pinch of salt."

I agree with that quote.

But I also think Professor Hawking was correct to point out the possible dangers.
