Found this channel on YouTube and I like it.
I think they do a video per week so there's loads to go through. This is the main link but feel free to post direct links to any you like.
Vsauce (http://www.youtube.com/user/vsauce)
The main channel is one video per week. This weeks is about music and is very interesting (VI?)
Link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAcjV60RnRw#ws)
I've linked direct in case youtube gets confused with my sign in or you don't have one.
Like I needed another addiction!!! :D :P
Never seen this before, that was refreshingly interesting (RI?) Thanks !
Another RI/VI installment of Vsauce.
Is The 5-Second Rule True? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYXdsOEWBj0#ws)
I use the wet/dry rule. If it's wet, throw it away. If dry, eat it. But hey, what's your immune system for anyway?
I really liking these.
If I drop a biscuit I will pick it up quick and eat it, most other things I bin.
I also use the wet-dry rule, but I also incorporate the 5 second rule to the dry rule :P

I've always hated that cliché.
My answer is: my uncle had TB as a child and had most of one lung removed. Didn't kill him or make him stronger.
:o :-\
Trust me, Snowy, I fully understand that fact, as the accident has left me far weaker than I was before. In the previous context, though, it was meant as a joke, and as such, wasn't to be taken seriously. :)
For sure Dave. My mild offence was at the cliché not your use of it.
As opposed to "We'll head them off at the pass" which I don't hate but Hedley Lamarr does.

I've watched loads of these on You-Tube. I really enjoy the no nonsence presentation. Here's one of my favourites.

I was looking through the videos in that channel, and found this:

ANother interesting video, thanks for that reminded me to subscribe.
When I saw that image, my thought was, "Who stole the other colors?", because all I saw right from the first second was greyscale and red. Maybe it's just my brain or something; who knows?
However, the videos in the leanback were cool. :)
And this weeks episode...

And the next installment.
What's The Most Dangerous Place on Earth? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1T4XMNN4bNM#ws)

Not new, but I thought this was a good one, they all are though ;D
What Can You Do Without a Brain? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3teflb1QNN4#ws)

And found this too. It's in 4k if you can display it (4 x 1080) but looks cool in HD anyway. It says filmed in the notes so I assume this is ink in water rather than CG.

I'd need a lot of barbecue sauce, I think. :D
One question that I've always wanted to ask is why the seasons begin and end on a solstice or equinox, rather than in between them?
For example, the Winter Solstice (Dec. 20th/21st) is the beginning of Winter. It's also the shortest day of the year, and typically is the day where the Earth's pole tilt is most aligned with the Sun (often associated with the coldest average temperatures). Yet this is the first day of Winter? Shouldn't the Solstice mark the middle of winter, instead? The "reverse" is true for Summer, as well as for the other 2 seasons.
I think it's due to older, less accurate calendars.
Because they kept going out of sync with the real year, the solstices and equinoxes were the only way to reset the year. Or work out when to plant crops etc.
I often find people who think the opposite is true but have given up correcting people or getting annoyed with them. It makes little odds, see it as you want.
I found this via Vsauce link so thought I'd post it here.

lol @ "Earth's first fart"... Except that we're really not. Accepting the impact (asteroid or comet, depending on who's telling the story) of 65 million years ago, the amount of ejecta that reached or exceeded escape velocity is not insignificant, and given the sheer volume, had to contain a huge number of dinosaurs (or at least pieces of dinosaurs) that had been converted to a gaseous form via incineration, thus making them a previous "fart", and who knows how many previous incidents of similar nature may have occurred before that?

Particularly like this bit.
In your 20's and 30's you worry about what people think of you.
In you 40's and 50's you stop worrying about what people think of you.
In your 60's and 70's you realise that they were never thinking about you in the first place.
I happen to disagree with that. It may be true, in general, but in my personal experience, and judging from the behaviours of those around me, people are still worried about how they're perceived well into their 90's. I, however, haven't cared what others thought about me, ever. :P
Name please.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8WsO__XcI0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8WsO__XcI0)
I'm not quite sure how to respond to that. It's certainly interesting, and discusses concepts that I've seen first hand, but given the fact that (for the most part) my username is some form or derivation of my "real" name, what does this say about me? Or, more importantly, should I care about what it says about me? And then there's the notion that when I play video games where I can control the appearance of my in-game avatar, what does it say about me when I almost invariably create female characters with green eyes and slim (almost slight) figures and smaller than average breasts? ??? :-\ Or does it really matter? :D

Ok, now my head hurts. :-\
So I think you can make something simpler so it is easier to understand or you can make it more complex to cover more possibilities.
Carl2
Finished watching it (took 2 goes) and I'm with Dave. My head hurts.
Our tiny brains can define something that's not calculable and may not physically exist. Ouch!
I know I'm thick but I don't have a problem with infinity when it comes to numbers.
The universe is another matter but with numbers we will always be able to +1.
I came to terms with that a few years back, I refuse to watch this blasphemy any longer :joker:
This one has all the moves.

A new one. Four.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csInNn6pfT4
I rather liked that one. I already knew about the Aleph bits, and just a few days ago discussed with a friend of mine about the (four)nomenon with the number four. As a side note, the number 40 is the only number of which it's word that's spelled {in the English language} in alphabetical order. No other number has this particular attribute.
Anyway, thanks for sharing, Snowy! :D
You lucky people.

April 9th, they'll be in Reno, which is REALLY close to me, so I'm going to do my best to work up the funds to go; hopefully before the show is sold out. :o
Going to be tough, though. the best seats ($125) are already sold out, and the cheapest ones ($40) are already more than half gone. Drat! Looks like I'll be missing out on this. :sign-sad:
Mars. Missed this one, from Nov 2016.

Spinning. And forgot to post this one.

I do watch these Vsauce2 vids but don't normally post them. Found this one interesting though and more Vsauce like.

Mind field ep 1.

That was both fascinating and disturbing at the same time. I'm not sure I liked it, but I'd be willing to give it a go again. :)
Here's one:

I had spotted this one but didn't have time to watch it.
Have now.
Not a normal one but interesting anyway.

I was just starting to look at that one when my computer locked up. Haven't been able to get back to it yet, but I will shortly. Still investigating the crash.
Michael's back. Hurah!

This isn't "normal fare" here, but I found it interesting. :)

Interesting. Not seen that one. Good find.
An older VSauce2 vid.
What is down?

That. Was. Trippy. And while I understand what was said, it skews what we were all taught in school such that it seems unnatural. However, it makes sense to me, so... Should I still use the "gravitic" model, or the "spacetime" model? Hmmm. :scratch-head:
The model that stops you tripping over thing 'cos gravity hurts is the best model. ;D
I post these as they're fairly light and accessible. For more in depth try PBS Space Time (http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7_gcs09iThXybpVgjHZ_7g).
First in a new season of these. All the others were paid for episodes so I'm expecting the same this time.
Very interesting.

Here's one that I found interesting. It's not new, however. It's from 2013.

This isn't the typical Vsauce episode. It's a TED talk that Michael gave on asking questions, and gives some pretty good insight into why Vsauce came about.

While not technically from the Vsauce channel, I think this vid from Michael is really interesting:

As always, a highly informative and entertaining video :)
Thanks for posting Dave

Thanks Dave. I like the table saw segment.

Enjoyed that - thank you Snowy.
One of the first things I remember doing online was looking for illusions.
A new season. As with the last 2 seasons, first one only free...

Wow, chimp memory, amazing!
Apes, not just orangutans, are learning sign language from humans.
Got a 2nd free episode this season. Definitely something I'd watch if I went prime.
