Was looking around Windows trying to find some kind of equalizer, couldn't find one built in.

It improves music a lot for me, there's a free trial. Currently on sale for £9.00.
Certainly cheaper than buying some hardware.
I've got used to the excellent sound quality on my headphones, so started to notice that the regular speakers were lacking.
See what you think if it interests you. The main settings that improved things for me were 3D sound and the Equalizer.
Looks good and I would probably try it if I didn't have the Soundblaster.
I know what you mean about sound quality, it's really nice to have clear quality sound, hey! we spend enough on these PC's they should be top notch :)
