As has been mentioned in various places, both here and elsewhere, many people consider that M$ made a mistake with Windows 8 with it's removal of the "classic" start menu and it's accompanying Start Button. This has, of course, been addressed in various ways through some 3rd party software. Gossip now has it that Windows 8.1 may bring the start menu/button back, but I'm not holding my breath. Instead, I decided to use the "3rd party option", and use StarDock's (https://www.stardock.com/) solution, Start8 (https://www.stardock.com/products/start8/) (I may have mentioned this before). Anyway, one of the features of Start8 is that you can "skin" the start button fairly easily, and I've done so with my setup, and I've created what I consider to be some pretty cool Start Button icons for it, and on the off chance that someone else here is also using Start8, I thought I'd share. The zip file (provided I can post it here) contains these images, plus a couple more. If I can't post it here, I'll upload it to my site and post a link. :)

Interesting. the 2 above PNG images with the black backgrounds were made in exactly the same way, and saved with the same options, as the one without a black background, and they all display correctly on my computer. I wonder where the "glitch" might be...
They are cool Dave 8)
I managed to download them all no problem.
:sign-thanks:
I'm thinking about making a lot more of these and putting them up at WinCustomize (http://www.wincustomize.com/), which is a place that contains a lot of user-generated "tweaks" for various StarDock products.

Sounds like a plan, but of course you can post them here too if you like
Syber seems to be of the opinion that I should sell the icons, rather than just sharing, and while I value his opinion, I don't know if I could go that route with my artwork. Hmmm... :)
Auction them off to the highest bidder :mutley:
I'm with Data and Syber on this one Dave, might as well make a little something for your time ;)
You could go for coffeeware... sort of middle ground, you just hope people like it enough to replenish your coffee supply. I've thought about doing that a few times.
Free is better for the soul :worship:
But definately not the wallet :sign-lol:
Syber Idea coming in  make a bunch of them, give a couple away and sell the others...use the freebees as advertisement for the ones for sale.
