I started to download their program to see how well my computer might be suited for the transition over to W11.  After viewing all the Privacy issues and such, it made me refuse their requirement to examine and use any / all of my personal data/info as they deemed fit.

Really? Just to see if my computer qualifies? I call BS! If you're not buying a product, then you ARE the product!

And they wonder why people turn to Linux-based machines. Then again, those poor folks end up beating their heads trying to get Windows-based programs to run in a non-windows environment (with Wine or some other emulator). Yeah...go figure.

Save yourself some money and frustration - just buy an Xbox One X  ;D ;)

Does 4K, has HDR, has most of the big games. Costs way less than a Gaming PC and developers will know it better inside out over an esoteric gaming build.

Nah, game consoles are for part time gamers mate, can't really mod games on an egg box, simples  ;D

We get this every time a new version of windows comes out, the haters keep hating until they finally give in and go with the flow of a newer, better OS. I expect nothing else.  :D

Freddy

I avoided making the choice by just buying both  :D

It will be a long time before I get to windows 11, I just finished working on the newer computer and still have to go back to the old HP where the monitor has a problem, it will give Microsoft  time to fix anything.

Same for me really. I was musing over this kind of thing though:

But it can wait.

If nothing else you should seriously look at AMD and the Ryzen CPU's, did you see the benchmarks in the video I posted, the Ryzen is fastest in just about every test, it's also a more efficient CPU and takes less power - that was against an 11th gen i7 too.

Have another look.

EDIT:
Just going to add that this is a really bad time to build or buy a new PC, there is a world-wide chip shortage and the price of GPU's is utterly silly right now.

Freddy

Yes, I was looking at Ryzen too

I'm not going to build or buy a new PC at the moment, unless this one goes belly up.

I noticed today that in Windows 10 device manager I have a new component in security devices "Trusted Platform Module 2.0".

Obviously this has appeared because I enabled TPM in the Bios.

It could also be a way to help determine if your PC can run windows 11, if you have it showing in your device manager.

Carl2

I just came across a Win 11 update on the internet, I think it said there is special issue you can get but it could be missing things not released yet, there is also the TMP that I may not have for the HP but there are work arounds you can buy to will work and led you put Win 11 in.  For now I'll use the old windows 10 download I saved on a flash drive.

Too early to tell really I think. I mentioned elsewhere that they aren't offering the compatibility tool now. So they are probably dealing with no end of enquiries I bet!

I've already given up on getting a download of the new AI that is out there.  I still have to wait for the PS to arrive for the HP and should be here 7-12 to 7-15 then I'll put in Win 10.  For some reason the display on the newer computer seems different than that which showed on the HP and I have to get used to it.  I was able to remove some scanning software that cause pop ups to appear which helps a lot.

I just found out that windows 11 has a dark theme mode, looks much better than the default theme to me.

Yep, I will be using dark mode.

Carl2

Win 11 had said it will make things faster, a selling point that they were unable to do.

Freddy

I expected it to have dark mode since 10 has it too. Cool
