I'm not sure how quantum got into the name but if Google bought into it I'd guess there are advantages to it.  Since I've worked in electronics and am a little familiar with some devices I've always wondered why a tri state computer is not thought of.  Instead of a 1 or 0 you would have +, 0 and - giving three states rather than the two.  On a magnetic disk we can apply a positive pulse, a nothing equal to a zero where we expect something, and also the negative pulse. Very probably the current SSD is not built to handle this, then again the current cpu is useless. 
  Guess I wandered away from the accepted way of thinking once again similar to when I thought why can't light travel faster, but always put the accepted answer on tests.

Not sure if, let alone how, quantum computing can help games. As far as I can tell, encryption and decryption are the main uses due to being able to factorise large numbers in relatively small amounts of time. All general processing is pretty much useless with qbits.

Tri-state... hmm! How would that work for true/false. There is 1, 0 and null (NAN) now. 0 being a number, null being nothing or not able to process.

100 million times faster, hmmm, ok maybe it's going to take a bit more speed until 8 x AA will be possible but It seems like the really clever scientists thinking is heading in the right direction.

  This is what I have seen and learned and deals with the everyday computers we now use.  This Gateway Gaming computer took about 1 1/2 minutes to boot from the original hard drive.  Putting in one of  the first SSD'd reduce the boot to about 20 sec.  The HP with faster buss speeds and faster SSD's reduced the boot to 10 sec. 
   The latest cpu's and motherboards are advertising a boot time of 10 to 15 sec.  I think we are being hyped by the people in advertising.  I'm only going by the boot time and haven't gotten into benchmarks, or overclocking, we are making progress when I hear of a boot of 4 or 5 I'll be impressed.

Ok Snowy, your pin point accurate logic has convinced me, once again, to save my money and not rush out to get one of these Quantum Computers. I will spend the cash on a new humor chip instead, as it appears that my current one is malfunctioning  :thumbsup:
