Title: Sherlock Holmes the devil's daughter
Post by: Data on March 23, 2016, 16:32:11 PM
There is a new Sherlock Holmes game coming on May 27th.

Sherlock Holmes the devil's daughter

Looking forward to it, played them all up to now, great games that make you think.

Here is a CGI trailer, not much to go on but enough to make me want it

Yes I have my eye on that too - I follow them on Facebook. They have a Lovecraft game coming as well.  8)

That was a bit creepy, I think. Not my cup, really, but the cinematics and effects are well rendered.

Just watched it properly, yes it is a bit freaky, I think I will like that though. Seems like it will have a lot of atmosphere. And agreed the graphics work on the trailer was very nice indeed, lots of attention to detail. The envelope is always being pushed.

I played Sherlock Holmes Jack The Ripper, that was pretty dark too, I like the way the game deals with humanities dark side, i.e. you track down and find the bad guys.

Set in Victorian England, exploring old London towns dimly lit streets rife with crime and prostitution, what's not to like  :D

OK, maybe not everyone's cup of tea.

My only complaint with these games is that they end too quick, normally you only get about 40 hours games play. Not as long as many other games but on the plus side some quality 40 hours game play.

I'm with you Data. The Victorian setting is compelling, something about that era - a dark London and so on. And you can't get more classic than Sherlock.

Went to buy this game, the release date seems to have changed to June 10th. Put in my pre order on Steam and got the 30% discount.

I paid £20.99 on Steam, for a new game it seemed very reasonable  :)

I haven't played a game in ages but I have to admit the game looks interesting, I don't recall Sherlock ever carrying a gun so haw is it played?

The Sherlock games are puzzle and mystery type games, they are made in such a way that it's close to being in an actual episode of Sherlock Holmes. Normally quite hard to play and need some "thinking time" but very good games in my mind.

Found this video of some of the actual gameplay, it's on the PS4, should look nicer on the PC.

Enjoying this game, it's a nice change to play something at a slower pace, so slow there is a bowling green  :D

Here it is then, maxed out on the PC.

Yes, parts of the game are pretty, some parts are not, some of the old London streets for example.

Well, considering that many parts of London are historically UN-pretty, that would seem to be expected.

Yes agreed - the game is doing it's best to keep London historically accurate.

Here is another screenshot from inside the club house at the bowling green.

Simply stunning. I only have one nit to pick, in that the oil lamp (at least I assume it's an oil lamp, as I don't believe that electricity was commonly available in that era, and gas lamps weren't of the table-top variety then, either) is a little too bright, and a tad too 'blue'. Beyond that it's a great image.

You make a valid point Dave  :)

The game has been given a new dynamic lighting, it works very well in some places but might have the odd side effect here and there.

To be honest though I didn't notice the blue in the gas lights with my colour blindness, now you say it's there, I think I can see it.

Finished this game now, It did feel like it finished too quick, only got 28 hours out of it.

Was good in places, the graphics, game play, didn't crash once either but it left me wanting more.

Some would argue that a good performance (play, game, movie, what have you) should always leave you wanting more. :P The trick is in making sure it's not too much more. :D

Well yeah, I have to agree with that Dave "keep them wanting more".

However I got around 40 hours out of the other SH game and still wanted more. Just a shame it finished so quick this time.
