I've been watching The New Avengers and The Saint on ITV 4, there is something to be said for the oldies, not sure what  :D

But I do think the Theme Tunes we better back then.

Freddy

I have this in my favourites...

Freddy

Certainly no mistaking the advent of synths is there

Snowcrash

The Saint theme, remake for the film. Video by Orbital, the writers.

Some good choices there Freddy :)

Doctor Who has to be one of the most iconic

Found this vid off all the Doctor Who theme tunes, is it just me or do they slowly get worse with every newer version, with the movie version being the worst of them all and the first or second being the best.

Orbital did a version too I believe.

Freddy

Good find, listened to all of them  ;D

Yes the first couple were the best, though I don't mind the Matt Smith one.  The period around Sylvester McCoy was dismal in all respects... and of course I grew up with Tom Baker so I still like the tune at his time as it's the first one I heard.

Snowcrash

I liked the different Doctor themes. The first 4 were broadly the same. I think 2 and 3 were the end credits rather than the beginning.
They seem to get more sequenced as time goes on. I like the analogue feel of the first ones.
The Matt Smith one has got that feel back again, though with an orchestral take on it.

And, of course, Orbital did this too. Here's the Glastonbury version.

I remember watching the Saint and the original Avengers when I was a kid, and (of course) I'm a huge Dr. Who fan these days. Airwolf was ok, but not entirely my favorite. Musically speaking, however, this was at the top of my list, and still makes for a great "driving song" (for about a minute or so) :)

Safe, Reliable Insanity, Since 1961!

Freddy

That Orbital one is so good, that's a stage show if ever there was one

Good pick Dave, I was a big fan of that show  8)

Freddy

Since we're going through Dr. Who there was also the KLF novelty one.  This actually got to number one in the UK.

Snowcrash

How about this?

This always reminds me of when I was a kid :)

Blast from the past. Reminds me of my Mum (I think she fancied him).

How about the good ol' boys?
