Sorry to hear that your projector failed. Sounds like you did not let it ruin your party though 

I ended up doing what several people had suggested strongly that I NOT do, and that's to tape a lens from a pair of eclipse glasses over the camera's lens, and I'm glad to say that it worked perfectly. There were other challenges, such as a tripod that didn't cooperate when I had to reposition the camera to follow the Sun's path, and a gust of wind that tried to steal the pavilion we were using for shade, but these were minor glitches.

I'm still working on the video upload, and I expect it will take me most of the rest of the day to complete it. I shot nearly 3 hours of video, and the resulting AVI files were over 25GB in size! And that's just from one camera, and I used 2! It's going to take me a while to reduce it all down to something that I can upload to YouTube, I'm afraid, and I still have to figure out how to add a voice-over and such. I'm plugging away at it, though, and I'll post a link here as soon as I get it done.

Good god, that's going to take some computer time to convert that lot

Luckily, I saved my work prior to the second crash, so hopefully I won't have to re-do the whole thing again. I'll keep you posted.

Sadly, Snowy, I didn't have the equipment necessary to produce images or video of the quality that would compare with what you've found. But, all in all, I like the results of my efforts.

Probably a tough question to answer but how dark did it go during totality?     

Even with the moon covering about 94% of the sun, and with a faint, thin cloud covering it, the level of light reaching us never dropped below 75% (it seemed to me, at least). The temperature dropped by about 12-15 degrees Celsius, though.

Truly astounding Dave, bearing in mind all that life has thrown at you lately. Sod's Law, the inevitable, even Gravity had a go. Well done. 

By the way, I'm giving you all fair warning. There's going to be a TOTAL eclipse on August 21st, 2017, with both the center of the path of totality, AND the point of greatest eclipse situated within a few miles of my Niece's home in Kentucky, and I'm officially inviting you all to come. I would love to travel to England, to see one, but you lot are out of luck for a total or annular eclipse till February 5th, 2437! Sorry to say it, but sucks to be you.
