This came up in the news feed, but I am dropping it in here in case it was missed. I could get behind this.

QuoteA British-led consortium has outlined its plans to land a robotic probe on the Moon in 10 years' time.

Its aim is to raise £500m for the project from donations by the public.

In return, donors would be able to have photos, text and their DNA included in a time capsule which will be buried under the lunar surface.

Interesting and I hope this happens, very cool  8)

Not sure I would want my DNA put on the moon though.

Are you concerned that the Vogons will start cloning you, and force them to listen to poetry? :P :D

£500m? Sounds like enough money to build the robot. Not sure about the rocket with enough delta V to get to the moon.

Maybe they have an alternative means of propulsion? It may well be possible that they've reverse engineered Angry Birds, and have learned from that how to create a giant slingshot.
