Smoke me a Kipper I'll be back for breakfast - Ace Rimmer

now there is a treasure I would of liked to find :)

DD1975

It's the sole surviving DO-17 in the world and laid safely under the sand about 50ft don until recently. Even the tyres were still inflated when they found it I believe.

Diesel

It's great to read stories of this nature, but I cant help but wonder if this is all going to end up in tears.  :scratch-head:

Given that we found the thing, are going to recover it from it's watery grave, transport it to Hendon, spend thousands restoring it only to have the Krouts insist we give it back as part of their Heritage. Time will tell.  :-X
It WILL be fine !...

Snowcrash

If that's the case, Diesel, then do we have to send any UXBs and shrapnel back to them too?

It's in our waters, it's ours.

Careful what you wish for there snowy, there are WAAAAAAAY more UXB's in Germany thatn the UK, in fact they have had 3 major incidents already in Berlin this year, and bomb disposal is a very dangerous job in Germany crews still get killed by wartime bombs quite often over there.

Diesel there are lot's of precedents of this type, basically the aircraft isn't a wargrave so is fair game for those prepared to salvage it, Russia has loads of aircraft, tanks and other kit that the Gremans left behind in their museums.

And of course it's in UK teritorial waters  :D
