I would recommend those of a sci-fi bent to try the Deaths' Head series by David Gunn:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death's_Head_(series) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death's_Head_(series))
I will leave it to the words of Neal Asher (Himself a great author):
"Loaded with violent action...I was hooked. Starship Troopers meets Schwarzenegger's Commando".
It's worth reading just for the AI gun :D
I've also just realised that i need to get the third book in this series
I've been looking for a new author. Have tried two but neither has really floated my boat.
I'm also waiting for about 3 books to come out in paperback. (one is an Asher)
Will give this a go and let you know what I think.
I've read the first two and really enjoyed them, the author is ex american military so knows his stuff in reads to the combat stuff.
I think you might enjoy this snowy, the first book may start a little slowly from the technical perspective but stick with it by the time you get to the second book "Maximum Offense" it has picked up.
I've read the first book now and I'm hooked. More military than sci-fi but a good paced read.
Brings new meaning to having a kyp (kip).
It gets more into the sci-fi element a bit in the second volume as Sven starts to develop......I still haven't read part 3 yet but the author really shows his military background in the writing.
I have to admit they are gripping books that you don't want to put down.
Thanks DD, I also have been looking for something else to read. I have found all three books on Amazon for £5.20 a pop, have down loaded the first book and will hopefully get into that in the next day or so.
No problemo Diesel, I reckon you will enjoy this :sign-welcome:
