So many electric cars to choose from, many thousands of public charging points   8)

Did you mean Charging points?

Curious, is there a "Standard" with regard to Charging station Plug-in devices?
If so, does that standard hold true across the UK?

Here in the USA, I have not noticed very many charging stations. I think a lot of people are still somewhat reluctant to purchase an EV.  Perhaps their fear is that they might be driving and run out of power or have no charging stations at their destination(s).

Yes it's pretty standard across the world nothing to worry about.

For rapid chargers there are 2 types of sockets and a rapid charger will have both on there.

For standard charging speeds the sockets are all the same.

Just because you don't see the charging points doesn't mean they are not there, you are probably right about people thinking there is nowhere to charge but they are mostly wrong.

The little UK has over 34,000 public charging points (today)

The last time I checked I think the USA had over 80,000, here is a nice map of US chargers, zoom in to see them all.

Don't forget that most EV's have a navigation system built in that can point you to the nearest charger and they tend to get up-dated over the airways regularly.

I can only really talk for the UK but you are normally near a charging point wherever you are in the country now and the charging network is growing all the time.

PS Thanks for pointing out my typo Art

I've seen loads of small chargers on lampposts in Brighton recently. One thing the Greens (our council, I dislike them) are doing well.

Snowy I edited your post, the link was pointing to some strange google redirect for some reason.

I've used one of them chargers in Hove, they are only 3kW but parking is free when you are plugged in.

The problem is they are getting badly ICE'd by people that think they can park there in an ICE bucket  :very-angry:

Proud to be a Liptard,  I remember those days then big brother came along and taught us to think right,  a lot of political people said the wrong thing and got in trouble.

Data,

Your post was a SPLASH of cold water in my face!! What a wake up call!!

There are THREE stations in my small town! I've never seen them but then again, not having an EV provides the reason for the surprise in itself.

A person on the east coast could easily drive to the west coast of the USA without having to worry about not having or finding a place to charge their EV. Unbelievable!

I have bookmarked that site for future reference and for sharing with a few friends.

Thank you so much!!

Well it seems the new president likes electric cars and very possibly will push for more production of them which will be nice.  He still has a lot to do with the virus getting vaccines distributed, nice to see everyone wearing masks now.  It's hard to believe it has taken so long to get things going while people keep dying.
