Title: Germany to bring 100 mothballed tanks back
Post by: Data on April 13, 2015, 11:28:57 AM
This is odd and slightly worrying, the tanks even have the old German Cross on them  :o

QuoteGermany plans to bring 100 mothballed tanks back into service in what is widely seen as a response to rising tensions with Russia over Ukraine.

Can't we just live in peace and get on with our lives

Moth balled tanks have a history.  Can anyone identify the tank in the BBC news story?

Those Russian tank and assorted vehicle numbers do raise the eye brows. Slight paranoia there or just always prepared...? Hmm.

The world seems more scary than it should be for the 21st century.

Have we not learnt from the last 2 world wars

Hopefully peace and sanity will win this time  :woot:

Hasn't the 21st century, so far, largely been an economic decline?

U.S. History tells us, America did not get out of the Great Depression until it entered World War II.

( Just making an observation. )

Actually, it wasn't just WWII. The same thing could be said (though to a lesser degree) for WWI,  the Korean war, Vietnam, and even the Civil war (though the start of that war saw a serious economic decline in the beginning. That said, however, the US was stronger at the end of the war than before it began, so the point is still valid)

Maybe, with social media and people power ...

There must be a better way.

a little off topic but been thinking, bringing those tanks back is a waste of money. I really don't think there will be another big war. power and control was main reasons for big wars in the past and now a days power and control can be bought  :P what are your thoughts on this.

You're probably right, but that's not a good thing, as war is a good way to consolidate power, as well.

:scratch-head: indeed true my friend, and a good point to be noted. But think about this money and goods can also be very persuasive consolidator as well.
