Here in the US, Renault has had a pretty bad name for quite some time now (at least among auto mechanics), mainly because of the utter dross they were exporting to us in the early to mid 80's. Even among some of my friends who are still in the trade, Renault ranks up there with Yugo and Lucas Ignition for "crappy foreign stuff". I've been out of the loop a number of years now, of course, and I've never really followed F1 all that much, so I expect that their racing division provides much higher quality product than the stuff they once shipped to us Yanks. :P

Here you go Dave, when they can be bothered they can marry F1 tech into road chassis and come up with this:

Smoke me a Kipper I'll be back for breakfast - Ace Rimmer

lol, I remember that vehicle from one of my Gran Turismo games for PlayStation. If memory serves, it had over 900BHP, and a top speed of over 350KPH. Handled like a brick, though. :P

Of course Ford and Cosworth came up with this as an answer which in my book was even funnier

Well, it looks pretty, but how does it move? :)

Personally, if someone's going to be that silly, and put racing gear into the Soccer Mom's ride, then bolt together 2 20B Mazda rotary engines and put them into it, and paint it up to look like a hornet.

Hmmm... 6 rotors, 3 liters, over 1k BHP, if ported and turbo'd properly... Too bad those engines are so rare. They were only made for the Japanese version of the Cosmo.

Its ok  :)

LOL, Dave that made me laugh out loud, I feel a new Motor Sport general chat topic coming on.

DaveMorton

Probably a good idea. I've always loved the Wankel engine, and once owned a 74 RX3 that was scary fast. I could probably go on forever about the car. :)

Whilst off topic, I found this for you Dave. Not an RX3 though.

Enjoy.
It WILL be fine !...

DaveMorton

I like the RX8, as well, but it's a bit out of my price range. :)

The image below is the closest to what my car looked like. Just take off the chrome, and paint it a dark, flat charcoal gray and you have my car.

Can you imagine doing 190+ KPH in something that small?  :o :driving: :flag: :yahoo:
