Weird crash. It looks like something failed on the car and it went left.
We get used to seeing cars (esp F1) having massive crashes and the drivers walking away. RIP Allan Simonsen.

He was trying to avoid a spinning Ferrari in front of him, it was wet and it looks like he got on the white line as he moved, the speed appears to have been enough that he just lost control.

From looking at the video the crash didn't appear to be fast enough or bad enough to be fatal.

I understand what you are saying there Data, it does make me wonder if something else happened to the guy prior to the accident. :scratch-head:

It took them an hour to repair the barriers, I'd say it was a lot faster than it looked Data.
If you look, you'll see the roof is bent in. That chassis is toast. That was a huge impact.
