The Japanese are moving ahead with the Superfast Maglev train:

Japan has a major nuke reactor problem atm, and there people are dying yet there putting money into a train 

With brown out's 'cos they haven't got enough electricity due to turning off the other reactors.

Though I think they maybe back on now.

Maybe they decided that the bullet train isn't quick enough to get through the radioactive zone?
