This fast:
Windows 8 USB 3.0 support (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tc2e57dPDUw#ws)
So going by the video, realistically we can expect to see something around the 200MB per second mark.
And you don't have to have Windows 8 either to run USB 3, as long as you have the drivers for the PCI e card or motherboard (if the USB is on motherboard) it should work fine in XP, Vista and Win 7.
Interesting, that's double the speed of Ethernet.
200MB/s is 1.6G bit. Or 1.6 times faster than giga bit ethernet or 16 times faster than 100 mega bit ethernet .
Where you at? I have giga bit LAN/ethernet .
Oh yep, I thought Data was quoting MegaBits (Mbps) rather than MegaBytes (MBps).
I think I am around ethernet, mines a hybrid - Mains Network LAN and Wireless. I reckon it is sub 100Mbs though. Fast enough for my purposes atm.
You know, combine this with an SSD or two, GB LAN, and a nice quad core 64 bit CPU with 16GB RAM, and... and...
{ye, GAWDS! I think I've just soiled myself!} :D
