Really interesting technology, I'm with Freddy, already saving up  :D

The headset looks wireless, you know what that means, another device that needs charging.

I see a huge battle looming between M$ and Google over wearable display optics someday soon, making the tech much more affordable. Once they become publicly available to "the masses", Google will probably step up their game and give Google Glass the same (or similar) functionality. Then we'll see a huge increase in pedestrian deaths/injuries from idiots wearing "portable" versions and not paying attention, and then the lawsuits will ensue. :o

but but wait a minute there Dave, that will leave room for you to create a program that flashes a big red idiot sign with warning siren in front of them when they do stupid stuff like not paying attention. who knows peoples life and car insurance might even get cheaper if they install it  ;) you know people will be driving wile holoing  :P

Hmmm... Potentially a good point. Integrate it with the vehicle's sensors (mainly proximity) and it could warn the driver about potential problems, giving them up to a couple of seconds additional time to avoid problems. OR, Dad could be watching hamster porn while on his morning commute. :P That could go either way. :D

Thanks Data
Dave hamster porn? um I was thinking more of the lines of a 3D naked full body of Trinity type AI porn showing all her titanium and intelligence goodness lol.

The term "hamster porn" is something that my friends and I came up with years ago to describe or label anything done on the internet that may possibly be... erm... inappropriate for younger audiences?

Syber: (hears Trinity speaking in the boys bedroom)
Trinity: Master! is it cold in here or is just me?
(trinity rubs her cold hard titanium nipples)
:o
Syber: "close your eyes son!!! and take of my HOLOLENSE NOW!!!"

Hope it comes with some sort of biometrics   :P

I have to agree with Dave, the adult porn industry is going to move in and make there own creations.  Meanwhile the people making sex robots are just going to keep making robots and adding new features.   Meanwhile we are still stuck with Haptek, an age old technology that surely needs updating.  That's the problem with a money driven economy but I don't know of a better way to motivate people.

Wondering why you are still bothering with Haptek Carl to be honest. You'd get better results from something like Daz models combined with Unity.

Actually Freddy I think I don't know any better,  you saw the short comings of Haptek long before I did.   I was able to go into the .phy and modify the physics of body parts, and into the .def  file and find some of the switches, interesting to me and possibly I made some improvements.  I'd play with Daz but I think it's not compatiable with the Hal player, I think I got that from you.  I'm still wondering why a compressor with bzip2 can not unzip a compressed file that was made using bzip2.

Have to agree with you chaps, the price needs to come a long way down before I start to get seriously interested.

Get one of those ones I did maybe, then you can see if it's for you.

I quite enjoyed it.

The way it looks at the moment is that the Oculus Rift is one of the more reasonable options.

The Microsoft helmets are being sent into outer space, guess they are being sold to the government, 3,000 is pretty cheap for all the documentation and testing needed.

It seems to me that Microsoft are the only company making "Augmented Reality (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augmented_reality)" for the PC, where as Oculus Rift and the others are all "Virtual Reality (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_reality)", though they are similar they are not the same thing.

MS do have a unique product and probably feel they can charge whatever they like.
