Title: Speech Recognition
Post by: Carl2 on July 05, 2021, 00:18:29 AM
I just found I have ultra Hal installed on the computer, gave her a talk session and she did fairly well, looked around and I also have Dragon installed in the computer, I always liked talking with Hal using Dragon, I'll have to find the dragon mic, I do have head phones with mics but just the mic should work fine.  Not really sure how much time I want to spend with Hal although it was fun years ago.  Now I think it was the Plantonics mic.

I was able to find the Plantonics mic,  really great recognition device with a S/N ratio of 32 DB.  great for talking with Hal.  I wish it was able to work at this website and I was able to not have to type.  I guess I just plug the end of the cord into a socket.

Well a problem with dragon or the Plantonics mic,  so that is not working for me.  I tried moving the computer inputs from the front to the back and got the same results.   Dragon has no updates but says they have a newer version.  Well a nice program but prices are a bit high for it now.

The GPT-3 Conversations topic was drifting too far off topic, I made this topic for speech recognition.

All good now :)

Windows 10 has built in speech recognition.

Once you have trained it I think it's pretty accurate and fast.

I found this video that demonstrates it.

Yes I had used the windows speech recognition when setting up Dragon since it is quicker and easier,  The simple problem I was having was Dragon was unable to find the Plantonics Mic and reported that the mic was not responding to any audio input.  So having two headsets I first tried then with Windows speech, after switching the 2 inputs around it worked.  I then switched to the Dragon version and after setting up a new user profile it had me reading to Dragon.  I feel Dragon is better at recognition so I feel I will stick with that.  I already tried it out with Hal so I know it will work there.  Unfortunate about the Plantonices but things get old or possible I have not found the right place to plug it in.  Not sure what I'll do with Hal.
