I found this mentioned on other sites, could this be how man overcomes his energy problem, this technology is already being used and works.

Cool, not seen anything about this before. Good for micro and medium distribution. Doesn't really address the 'where does the fuel come from' problem but if can generate more efficiently then all the better.

Been thinking. He said, when asked if it could run on solar, yes. I can't see that. It seems to require a hydro-carbon as fuel burn/reacted with oxygen to produce electricity. Will still produce CO2.
Still a good technology. Can only get its green credentials from efficiency though.

You know that bit about solar got me too, a simple yes answer wasn't really what I wanted to hear.

Maybe use solar energy to create the fuel, that could be done, but the technology for that isn't finished yet.

Interesting that it runs on gas but doesn't burn the gas, and I didn't once hear anything about exhaust gases, does it make any? What happens to them?

Now we're into the semantics of the word 'burn'. Do your muscles burn sugers (carbon-hydrates) with oxygen? Or would you call the reaction via the ATP catalyst something else. And what about pyrolysis?

It is reacting gas with oxygen (burning?) and that reaction (CH4 + 2xO2 = CO2 + 2xH2O) will produce CO2 and water. With enough heat you don't need a catalyst. With a catalyst you can do the reaction at lower temps.

Ok you got me Snowy, how about combustion, can I use that word?

The Bloom Box runs on gas but doesn't use combustion.

Combustion or burn it's still the semantics.
What we are saying is the reaction doesn't require a flame. Neither do your muscles. Heat is still produced and exhaust gases and water. Same with your body. If you work you get hot and the CO2 is exhausted in your breath.
Your body does the reaction via ATP (something tri phosphate).
The clever bit about this reaction is the 2 coloured coatings. They are the catalyst so that a flame is not required. It will still produce CO2 and water.
