I am using Dragon version 10.1 and dictating this with an Asus wireless headset, I had recently read an article at Zabaware about speech technology. I had bought this headset from newegg for $50. The signal-to-noise ratio is 22 DB and Dragon works very well with this headset, since I felt this was a very good wireless headset and I thought the price was very reasonable I had wanted to mention it at this forum in case others are interested in a good wireless headset.

I prefer the quiet-ish clickity click of my keyboard. My love affair with my PC doesn't stretch to talking to it yet :o

I have seen and used Dragon and it is very good. Imbeds with windows far better that anything else I've seen. What do you say to open the windows menu now? 'Cos it used to be 'start' + 'programs' etc. but it's not called a start button now.
How do you rate the headset for comfort? I have a crappy logitech thing. Functional and works fine it MW2, skype etc. Sound quality not all that but mic clear enough.
I was looking at the creative fatal1ty headset as I've used one and sound quality is good and it's comfort is far better that the one I use.
I have Dragon 9, did use it in XP but haven't tried it in Win7; it was quite accurate but not perfect.
I don't know how Dragon 10 compares to Windows 7 SR, some are saying the Windows 7 one is good, I do know that a good microphone is extremely important.
This video makes the Windows 7 SR look impressive.
I will give a brief description of my involvement with Dragon, ages ago I was given a free sample of Dragon from Staples. I loved the product and began purchasing Dragon preferred every so many years. A few years ago while ordering Dragon there was a special price for the Plantronics wireless headset which I also ordered. The Plantronics headset had been stolen about a year ago, it was a very good headset and I really did not want to get wired up again.
I think the Plantronics had a SN of 24db but this included a sound card not used now.
Okay so replacing the Plantronics for not much money, I looked around waited looked around, The best I could find was Andrea for a special price of $69 ( didn't like the mic frequency response) then I looked at newegg where I always shop and came up with the Asus. Bought it and it's great in that it gets me away from the wires. The battery life is better than the Plantronics, time between recharging. S/N is lower but there is no sound card. Comfort I'd say is fair, at the end of a long session It's nice it is off. Normal wear time is okay.
I hate to make the story longer but before the Plantronics I had a preamp with an audio filter. It had a 6 pole low freq filter at 240 hz and 6 pole hi filter at 10 Khz. I was able to get a 19 db S/N mic up to 28 db. Couldn't use it with wireless, I think they use FM and demodulate. Like to get a software package that puts the input through a filter, noticed a bit of a bump must be 60 hz.
