Title: DDR4 Motherboards are here.
Post by: Snowcrash on September 18, 2014, 13:35:15 PM
DDR4 has arrived. They're on the new LGA2011 mobos (http://www.ebuyer.com/660467-gigabyte-ga-x99-ud4-socket-lga-2011-2-4-5-1-7-1-channel-audio-atx-motherboard-ga-x99-ud4), not sure about others.

And the DDR4 itself (http://www.ebuyer.com/662227-g-skill-16gb-4-x-4gb-ripjaws-4-pc4-21300-ddr4-2666-mhz-f4-2666c15q-16grr).

Well spotted Snowy

They are the mobos that take the new i7's with more cache and no on board graphics, looks like a nice system but the price is high.

I also noticed some of the CPU's are 6 cores with hyperthreading, giving 12 virtual cores in Windows, I know it doesn't matter much but I wonder if they would give a WEI score of 7.9  :scratch-head:

Too much for me. I won't be upgrading for a long time anyway, but it's good to see what's new.

I agree with you Freddy. But this tech will filter down.

There is also an 8 core i7 (http://www.scan.co.uk/products/intel-core-i7-5960x-extreme-unlocked-s-2011-3-haswell-e-8-core-30ghz-35ghz-turbo-40pci-e-lane-20mb-c?utm_source=google+shopping&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CjwKEAjwheqgBRD5vOfR45az5AESJABy4m8-VKE4fSplpWwur0Y75wq3Y2GNmFIU92hGnQcwEMbGlRoCOmTw_wcB). I feel this is for desktop 3D power users only.

I'd certainly be interested in that when the price comes down, I'm doing a lot of 3D stuff at the moment and plan to do more.
