Has anyone seen or heard of these before.

Good find. Not seen this but I had heard Valve (steam) were aiming at the next gen smart TVs with a Linux based PC.

This unit would be for those who don't want to buy a new TV. This is the best explanation I can find. Dinky unit at $500-1000, estimated.

Their previous products were based around a dual core Intel chip. Which is a bit of a backwards step really. Most modern PCs are quad core plus graphics and an Xbox 360 is a triple core running graphics as well.

Could that be a size issue Snowy, given the heat displacement required for the bigger chips ?. 

For sure. And heat generated/dissapated. But that would mean they're aiming at the low end of the market (technically) but at a medium end PC price.

I can build a pretty good PC for $1000 (£600) but it would be bigger. But it also wont have to run Windows, so will prob have more resources available.
