We talked about GPUz on the other thread, and it made me think it was time for this post.

Been using Radeon Pro for a few months now, had to switch to it after getting my R9270 and not being able to use ATI Tray Tool any more.

It's good, a bit techie but I like some of the features a lot.

You can make profiles for your games or anything that runs a game engine. (only works with AMD cards). In the profiles you have options for lots of goodies

On screen display to show FPS and info about the card, speeds, temps, usage %.

Set GPU and VRAM speeds (I use it mainly for underclocking)

Set hotkeys to turn on AA and other settings

Set CPU affinity

Plenty more but the list is too long.

Problem is I'm not sure if Radeon Pro is going to be supported any more, I think the guy has stopped development.  :(

Here is a screenshot of my clock settings for F1 2013, running the card at half speed, the game still runs at 50FPS but the card runs cooler, takes less power, saves you cash and probably helps to prolong the life of the GPU, it's win win win

Well its my kind of gadget if nothing else  ;D

I forgot to mention that you need an up-dated version of RadeonPro for the R7 and R9 series of cards, you can downlioad that from:

I installed it. I found with LOTRO GPU would go up to 100% and 1-2GB VRAM. Temps topped at 66C so working fine.

One thing though - how can you hide the Radeon Pro displays ?

I get one text display up the top left. And then this massive square one plonked right on top of my quick slots which are essential.

The text one is fine, the big one has things like FXAA, SMAA, DVC and OFC on it.

You set hotkeys, with them you can move the text displays or turn them on and off as needed. Also that large one you mentioned has two modes, small or large. Takes a while to get it set how you want but it's all possible.

Freddy

OK well some how the big one has gone. All I wanted was the text one.

I was getting 30fps which still looked smooth. I turned AA down a notch and it's up to 50fps. So some room for fiddling there, I'll have a play.

Good thing is I can't tell the difference with AA ! And a side effect of having the main screen on 1080 is that it looks smoother as there's more pixels there.

I know what you mean about AA - it can take lots of GUP but hardly make any difference to image quality. Some game engines have much better AA than others too.

Redeon Pro has that built in FXAA which is nicely optimised and has virtually no effect on FPS. I have sometimes disabled the in game AA and just used the Radeon Pro FXAA.

Assassins Creed Unity had one of the best AA's I ever seen, almost no impact on FPS.

Freddy

Yes and as we know, LOTRO is an old engine and at this stage of the game it's not likely to change. I went to one of the more busy areas and more graphically demanding cities and I was getting 50fps or so which is enough for it to be smooth, so I will stick with my settings now.

I'll try the FXAA thing when I have finally figured it out.
