Two key points:

Efficiency - battery electric cars are 4 to 5 times more power efficient than Hydrogen
( Efficiency is King in a renewable future )

Battery - Hydrogen powered cars also need a battery for regenerative breaking and to provide supplemental power to the electric traction motor.

  I'm still interested in the solid state battery, there are several manufactures that are doing research on this but making progress on this is slow.  Hopefully in the future they will over come problems they are now facing.
