My first consol was the Atari VCS

Had Space Invaders and was sooo much better then pong.
I remember staying up 'till 3-4am and clocking Space Invaders.

That was our first console too :)

I think my brother bought it and we ended up inheriting it.  I remember us playing Asteroids for hours on end.  I forget how much the games cost, but they must have been quite expensive I guess as we didn't have many.  I can remember another game where you flew aircraft around and tried to shoot each other, forget the name.

We had the one pictured, with the devilishly sophisticated teak veneer  :P

A few years later the joysticks came in useful for the ZX Spectrum I later got.

Snowcrash

I went from that to the Spectrum II 48k

Attic Attack was one of my fav games on that.

Oh how dated it looks now

Ahh Atic Atak, yeah had that one.  Ultimate made some of the best games.  One of my faves was Sabre Wulf which was also made by them.

I still have my 48K Speccy and it still works, box is there too.  Also top of my list was Lords of Midnight - I was even still playing that a few years back on a PC Spectrum emulator.

Happy days :)

My favourite game has to be manic miner. I never finished it nor did I finish Attic Attack.

Freddy

Classic :)  I think I did complete Atic Atac, definitely completed Sabre Wulf but could not finish Manic Miner without some cheat pokes.

Remember Crash magazine ?  That was my bible  ;D

Data

Yes I remember crash magazine, sometimes I would copy some basic from the mag, free games normally, somehow I always made mistakes and it would never run lol

Ant Attack, that's another one I liked, I think it was one of the first 3D games too.

Ah yes, the old days.  :D
You all played games I never heard of.
The ant game reminds me of "3D Point 236"
But in Point 236 you are the ant and you must fight against "every kind of creature".   :o
In this adventure you have a gun that never runs out of ammo.
Nevertheless, you get killed so easily.   So many enemies.  :-[
Good to do a "save" every few minutes, then when you die you can go back to the save point in the game and take another try at the mean sob. Then when you succeed and doing well, do another "save" cause you know it's just a matter of time.
Finally once I reached total victory and only me remained.   ;D
And I kept all my saves (about 50) and then could re-enter the game at any of those points knowing how many enemies exist in my world.
Life is not easy for an ant.

Another game I loved was "3-D Titanus".
Again many enemies that must be destroyed.
But you get a tank.   The only tank in the game by the way.
And you drive the tank around and it's a lot of fun.  ;D
And you shoot at anything and everything.
And some idiots even attack your tank with a sword.
They are the easy ones.
Ah yes, those were the days.

That sounds like fun to watch, idiots attacking a tank with a sword  ;D

Yes somehow the magic of computer games isn't what it was, I guess its just not new anymore. At the time we were all happy with bad graphics and sound, just to be able to play was a novelty.

Yep those way the days  ;)
