Haven't had a new game posted for a while. This came into my inbox today. It's F2P, but I think I would prefer Elite.

QuoteKey Game Features:

A Fleet at Your Fingertips
Take command of varied battleships, from nimble scouting ships to heavy frigates loaded with guns and rockets. In due time, you can command your own fleet.

Survival in outer space
You can undock from the station and travel around space colonies invaded by an ancient alien race. You can complete quests, collect valuable items, craft modules and ships, meet other players to fight or team up to resist pirates and evil aliens from deep space.

Choose Your Path
Each ship can be used for strategic missions—investigate the area, hunt enemies from the shadows, or gain support from allies. Impressive arsenal of weapons and gadgets, as well as the opportunity to craft items and ships will help you with it.

If You're Not With Us, You're Against Us!
Form an alliance with friends to create a deadly squadron of elite pilots. Fight with other players, perform PVE missions. Create corporation and take part in the battles for control of the territories. Enter your name in the annals of Universe history.

Gain Experience and Skill
Develop your abilities, establish specialized skills, and perfect your tactics. You could rush into battle full-force, operate stealthily from a distance, or sneak around your enemies and strike a crushing blow from behind — the strategy is up to you!

Looks pretty good to me, will probably give it a go at some point.

I'm downloading it now, and will give it a try later today. I'll let you all know what I think once I've played it a bit. :)

What was the verdict Dave ?

DaveMorton

lol I don't have one, in all honesty. I got side-tracked and downloading is all the further I got.

Now before you go asking how "getting side-tracked" can result in downloading a game, but not installing or playing it, this is one of those games that is accessed via a "game client", like Steam, so there are no visual clues left over when the download completes. Thus, nothing to remind me to get back to what I was doing. :(

The game is downloading a huge patch, so again, I'm waiting. This time I'll leave the client open, so I won't forget. :)

Ok, finally got a chance to check out the game, and I'm really very disappointed with it. IT seems that I'm stuck with a right-handed keyboard layout, with no way to change the key binds. As such it's completely unplayable, which is a real shame, as it's visually stunning, and what I've seen so far is really promising.

Not another game that you can't change key binds on, that's very annoying , I always have to change some keys but for a left handed player it must be next to impossible to play.  :(

DaveMorton

It's not just the whole left-handed thing. Since my right elbow is permanently locked in place, it's not possible for me to arrange the keyboard to a position that I can use to hit the existing keys as laid out. :(

I wonder if there are any custom keyboards that may help you out?

The keyboard is sort of like a little computer system in itself.

There are gaming keyboards and keypads out there, but none of them are left-handed. Even Razer, makers of the Naga left-handed gaming mouse make only right-handed gaming keypads, which are designed to be used with the left hand. I need something that's designed to be used with my right hand, and there just isn't anything out there that I can use. There are some "ambidextrous" models, but the tilt and yaw angles are wrong for me, and cause pain.

Another way would be to re-map the keyboard, if there was some software you could load custom keyboard maps for games, that would handy.

Bring it up at the next meeting  ;D

DaveMorton

Good news! I found out that there IS an option to alter the key binds. Trouble was that I had to get through the tutorial before it became available. I'll give my thoughts soon.
