War Thunder MMO Enters Open Beta - official trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BWqTXoNjtQ#ws)
Anyone think it would be good to get something like this to play this game ?

Or would a normal controller be okay (which I have).
Nice bit of kit, good price too, but for me it has to be a joypad these days, the little thumb joystick is all I need. But some people do prefer full size.
The game is looking good, some places the graphics look very nice indeed.
Yeah I think I will give it a go. I bet flight sims look great on 3 screens :D
Got to tell you Freddy, Flight Sim looks great on my single Acer screen, it would look truly awesome on three I should think, plus this is one of my favourite games.
That Bi-Plane Free up-grade is a bit of a maggot to fly for me but it does hold together well in a crash, trust me, I know.
Hehe, yeah I would need a tough plane :o
I'll try these out then, with my joypad first. It's at least ten years since I last played a flight sim.
I think we should all download the beta and shoot each other. :P
I think you should be on Steam too Freddy, all your buddies are there, talking about you :D
I'm downloading this now, just got enough SSD space for it.
It's not exactly my type of game but will give it a shot.
Cool, will try and get around to downloading it tomorrow. :)
Wow, they still make the cyborg joystick. Not a bad bit of kit.
They come into their own for flight sims. The MS one used to be really good but they stopped making it. I still have one though.
Download is slow right now, might be in by tomorrow at this rate ...
I still play IL-2 Sturmovik occasionally that was always fun and I have to admit I am not a joypad person i've hated them since they came into being, give me a nice joystick every time.
In my case it may just to be that I learned on the atari 2600 and never moved on though......... :D
I see what you mean Data, flicking between 0.6 and 1.6 Mb here, could take up to an hour and a bit. >:D
Finally took 1.40 Hr, up and running though, could be fun this.
Looks like I need to hone my skills with a game pad, either that or stop the ground coming up so fast, I wonder if there is a setting for that. :scratch-head:
I can't work out why you have to set target then fire, why can't you just fire, there must be a reason but as yet it eludes me. :scratch-head:
10 mins to finish downloading here. But Rugby is on in a bit...
I don't think I am going to like this after all. I can't control the thing ! Found it impossible to shoot the planes in the training mission. :P
Rugby calls, will try again later.
Same as Freddy, not just me then. ;D
How are you getting along with this game Data ?. :scratch-head:
I passed the intro bit second go, easy, then I joined a squadron and after one battle got made an Air Commodore, two more battles in and I was promoted to Air Marshal, if we win the next battle over France I will be promoted to Marshal of the Royal Air Force.
I cant get passed this first training mission either, going back to F1
Don't like being beaten by a tutorial, I stuck with it and did them all.
The graphics do look good when you max them out and the game remained playable.
Have up-loaded a screenshot to the gallery.

I finally managed to kill the two planes and did the first tutorials. I need to get a MS controller though, everything on my controller seems in the wrong place. I might like this if I could just get the hang of the controls.
I might just have to try this game out, once I redo my windows8 and get all programs installed ;)
Deep joy, I did a restore earlier for an unforeseen situation, it's wiped out this game for some reason or other, need to down load again, another couple of hours wasted waiting. :very-angry:
I had to clean up the contacts on the USB plug of my joystick but I've got it working.
Downloading now.
I've played flight sims that were more intuitive but it's ok.
Done all 7 of the tutorials though I did crash the plane onto the aircraft carrier but passed anyway.
Is anyone playing this?

I had to program the controls at least 3 times to get it right. Using an MS joystick.
I've played this a couple of times now Snowy in Arcade mode, seems OK but I wouldn't want to pay for the privilege.
Is it safe to say we all gave up on this one and I can remove it from my disk..?
Like Diesel I don't want to pay for it.
I think its safe to say the game is way beyond any of our skill levels
I have removed it.
Gone from here also, bit of fun while lasted though.
I just got to the point where I could try it, and you lot bail on me? :O :D
I still have it Dave if you find you like it. It's on my HDD so not worried about space...
The airplane controls are rather twitchy, and will take some adjustment. I can kill one enemy within the alloted time, but the second one always eludes me. the crash scenes are pretty cool, though. :D
Yeah I had trouble with the second one.
