I remember that. There was no official statement from either France or Russia but rumor was that France buzzed the Tupolev (concordsky) with Mirage(s) causing the pilot to make evasive action and the wing folded.

Poor design. I think it folded at -1 g or less. Concord would've survived.

the French had a mirage taking pictures of the tu-144, I believe this has since been admitted.

they also believe that there was a cameraman in the cockpit who wasn't strapped in, speculation was that the camera nay have been dropped and jammed the control column. this also would not have happened on Concorde.
