I noticed he said he's using lead acid batteries because of cost and reliability, I'm a little surprised the lithium aren't up there in reliability.

Did anyone see the last Top Gear ? they had the Tesla Model X on there.

This is the best video I can find of it.
Basically it beat a petrol heads super charged Dodge Charger Hellcat in a drag race. 

I got pulled over to you tube where they had a few vids on the Tesla, nothing great, basic road trip. Good vid on the Austin Martian Vulcon, V12.  can't be legally driven anywhere.

Tesla Autopilot Crash. Off topic but related.

Statically 1 crash in 200 million kilometers seems pretty impressive to me. The technology is good but yeah, always room for improvement.

I can see a time in the future where all drivers over a certain age (maybe 70 year old or something like that) Will be forced to use autopilot.

It's a concept-car that has turned into reality, we should see it transporting VIPs at the Olympics.

  Makes me think of all the cars of the future I've seen in the past that never happened.  As I drive and see all the big heavy cars with just a driver I keep thinking of a one or two passenger that could do the same job.  Maybe it's a matter of the driver feeling safer with a large car.

If everyone drove a small car it would be ok. But in a crash involving 1 large and 1 small car, the small car will come off worse.

Lets all drive large cars...

Just because something is small doesn't mean it isn't strong. Now with modern materials and production techniques they might actually become the safer option.

A large heavy car is going to have to disperse more kinetic energy on impact, that could well make things worse.

Anyway it doesn't matter how tough the car is, in a crash the people inside will only be able to take so much g-force before damage is done to the internal organs.

 

Lack of crumple zones and a steel frame. Wouldn't want to crash in a Smart car at 50+ MPH.

I wouldn't want to crash in any car at 50+ MPH, if I can help it.

lol my new scooter can't get from 0 to even 40 without a following hurricane force wind and a steep downhill section of road. 0 to 30 is more along the line of 2.3 minutes, under normal/flat conditions.
