Note for the Tesla X, typical woman driver, parked outside the school on the keep clear zig zag.

Nice car though, if you like Chelsea Tractors (SUVs).

I was doing some of my occasional wandering about YouTube, and I came across this:

I thought it was worth sharing. :)

Really enjoyed that Dave, thanks

Dave,
Very good find Dave, I really enjoyed that.

My man crush on Elon Musk continues. Good vid.

If I liked men in that way Mr Musk would tick a lot of boxes for me. :P

I see that the Nürburgring lap record has now been beaten by an EV  ;D

I watched the video and it seems they are fast charging the cars.  The race part of the vid was good, sounds like gears spinning were there I think.

Love the figures.

£1.4 million, 1342 hp or 1MW. Nio EP9

Data, that makes your 240kW = 322 hp. Seems a little high. Maybe I'm missing something.

Ahh, just did a wiki search. You're an 80 kW (110 hp) motor.

Interesting stuff. Amazing how quick they could charge that car. I stopped watching when they mentioned the Tesla though as I don't have that kind of money

Hopefully in a few years I will be in a position to get one of these new beasts. For now if I want a car I think it would have to be an old banger  :o

Snowy, I don't know where you got them figures from, wasn't me.

Yes the Leaf has an 80KW motor and can regen at 30KW, I think the regen figure could be one to keep an eye on too, in future EV's it's probably going to improve.

If Snowy's ratio is correct (and I must admit that I did not do the research here, so...), you're pushing just at 107 1/3HP, which does sound about right. But considering the weight of the Leaf, that's pretty respectable oomph for what you have. It may not win any drag races, but it's still rather zippy. :D

[edit]I've gone and done the research, and Snowy's conversion ratio is, indeed, correct.

I'm sure it is, it's not like Snowy to get math wrong but where did he get the 240kW from ? I think he was confusing the battery capacity of 24KWH with 240kW, maybe.

The Leaf also has 206 ft-lbs of torque, that makes it very nippy off the mark and from my experience it easily eats the "average" internal combustion engine, instant torque from 0 MPH with an electric motor.  8)

Snowcrash

I was working it out from the battery. Didn't notice I added a zero to the capacity though. Doh!

Most petrol engines are approx. the same for HP and torque. My Golf is 115 HP (84kW) and 115 ft-lb torque.
Your Leaf has almost twice the low end grunt. But I'd fly past at 70+ MPH. And can get to Devon, theoretically, with no stops (not with my bladder). Not a random destination or my max range, shall be driving there for a mates wedding in August.

Okay how would a motor cycle  do against an elec car ?
