This entire video is interesting, but this in particular for this thread :

Great image , it seems we have come full circle, apart from the hats  ;D

Volvo will only make electric and hybrid cars starting in 2019

Good to see a major car manufacturer stick it's neck out and be brave enough to stop making all petrol and diesel cars.

Hopefully others will follow suit.

Ok, I admit it. I want one. But I think I'm justified in saying that with that EV, range anxiety is probably a major factor. :P

True, still it made it up the hill without a re-charge

DaveMorton

And more than that, it could probably regenerate a good part of its charge on the way down. :)

I'd like to see how it does on the Pike's Peak run. Just sayin' ;)

I really like the outside design of the 460hp Renault Zoe a lot, I'm not a blue car type of guy but for some reason it resonates with me. however i think they forgot to pay attention to the interior  :scratch-head:

Data

Yeah I like the colour of the Zoe 460hp, really nice blue :drooling:

Not sure if you are joking or not there Syber, it's been stripped out to make it as light and fast as possible. like a rally car  :)

Dave, funny you should mention Pike's Peak, Nissan entered a near stock Leaf (apart from an added roll cage) to the climb, it did it in 14 minutes and 33 seconds.

QuoteNissan pointed out that, unlike the gas engine cars competing in the different divisions, the Leaf's electric motor and batteries were unaffected by the thin atmosphere at the upper third of the course.

While I have no supporting link to provide, I'd like to mention that one of the things that Tesla did with one of their early prototypes was to run Pikes Peak, and if memory serves, set a record or two with it. I'll have to do some research on that when I'm a bit more awake than I am now.

was not joking, however i knew it was stripped out, i was not clear, but i was referring to no color to make it resonate like the outside does.

Just the latest news from Fully Charged, if anyone is interested.

Quite an interesting bit in there about "vehicle to grid" technology.

I watched an interesting show with Robert some weeks back. He was trying to do something in his local village with green energy. My memory escapes me at the moment.

I like the way Robert thinks, reckon we both have a similar outlook on life, I certainly agree with his take on EV's, the way he trashes the views on EV's being "no good" is spot-on in my book.

It was his YouTube channel that opened my eyes to electric cars and made me start this thread and ultimately made me get my first EV, thank you Robert

Here is his latest video in the Renault Zoe e-Sport

A bit more fantastic news regarding the electric Mini, BMW will build it in the UK, regardless of Brexit. I wonder if that's because we have the knowhow and the raw materials to do so :)

Our government has announced today that they are to ban new sales of petrol and diesel cars from 2040.

The Greens are saying their policy doesn't go far enough. I feel it is somewhat ambitious but hey, even if that ambition fails, we will be further down the road of change (pun intended).
