I forgot about the game but still liked the vid.  Very interesting and a great idea.  So much energy that can be converted to electricity.  I wonder how much money the maker of the vid has spent so far on this electricity stuff.

Shell stuck to their word and have installed the first 50kW fast charger in a gas/petrol station, soon to be followed with 9 more, they are going to run a test scheme to help them understand EV owners and how they want to charge their cars.

I like the front end of the Merc SUV with the clear plastic over the badge etc.

Not that I want one but good to see the market moving. They stated 2023 as the point of no return for EV over ICE. Ambitious but doable. Some countries will be there but the world will be a bit behind that point, I reckon.

Data, that was a fascinating video, and it's terrific that shell has gotten into the game in such a consumer oriented way. While an EV isn't in the cards for me for a while yet, it's certainly on the horizon at some point. Most of that is due to you sharing your experiences here, so thanks and hats off to you.

  I'm impressed at the all the different car models out there, guess you have to look at the right places that I haven't done yet, something for everyone it seems.  The range has gotten up there to something that would make more useful, maybe it'll kick out the hybrids.
  Now I wonder how Shell got into providing electricity for the e cars,  maybe they provide fuel for electric generators and that statement is almost a joke.  A company that big is going to put it's billions into something else.

great video, I was shocked and happy to actually see a gas station host a charging station seeing there is a direct competition going on there.

There isn't, really. It's more like just offering a different "fuel", somewhat like diesel vs gas.

Yeah I would personally drop the idea of going hybrid, they will just keep us addicted to oil and all the negative stuff that comes with it.

Never have I once argued against EV, Data. Granted, I've made a lot of excuses as to why they're going to take a while to grab hold here in the US, I never once even hinted that I would never own one. Funny thing is, though, that the major selling factor for me isn't so much the reduced cost of operating one, or the fact that they're helping to save the environment, though those are important; it's the fact that they're so damned QUIET! I love the idea of sneaking up on people, or screaming off the line at a light with only the whisper (ok, maybe squeal) of the tires the only thing that you hear.

Yes indeed, when I test drove the Leaf it was the quietness and smoothness of the car that blew me away, it has to be experienced to be believed. On top of that it's the instant power that is stunning, you know we love our roundabouts over here don't you ? well it's never been easier to just pop into a gap when you see one, just press the accelerator and have total confidence that the car will jump straight in to the gap. EV's eliminate the hesitation of ICE cars completely.

They also don't need to warn up and run rough, the heaters work instantly too.

And driving slow in traffic is just so easy.

Also you can hear the people talking in their cars around you at the traffic lights, they have no idea that your car is completely silent, it's quite funny really             

  Well I have a 2003 Chevy Malibu which is on the older side, There is really no warm up as there had been decades ago with the carbs.  You turn the key, it quickly starts and idles at 1,500 rpm, a bit high and I like to let it drop a bit but it is ready to drive.  In the winter I have to drive a few blocks before warm air starts to come out the heater.  A bad feature it has is when defrosting the windshield it requires outside air while I want to recirculate warmer inside air.  The heater is made to heat the temp of the air so many degrees and starting with a warmer temp gives a warmer output.  Have to look at that again, ice forming on the wipers and windshield is bad.
  I worked with electricity for years they are doing great things with it.

Very cool technology but I'm not convinced that standard EV cars are going to need it, range and charge times are improving pretty rapidly now.

However, I wonder how long it will be until we see this in our bus lanes.

Nice idea but looks $$$£££. And who would pay for it? If freight becomes electric it may be useful, I guess.
