I have a question and I'm hoping that someone can come up with an answer.  Music and singers have gone through a lot of changes over the years, there was a time when people playing instruments could make the instrument sound like it was talking, like a voice coming from the instrument.  I became interested in this and remember it well but I can't come up with a record title that demonstrates this.  Can anyone come up with a song that demonstrates this.

Freddy

Do you mean talk boxes ?

DaveMorton

Actually, Jimi Hendrix was able to make sounds very close to Human speech with nothing but his guitar (and a "fuzz box", of course). I'll see what I can find, because I can't remember the specific songs.

I couldn't find anything, long time ago.  Gave me a chance to listen to some older music that I liked quite a bit.

Here's one :

QuoteA man walks down the street
It's a street in a strange world
Maybe it's the Third World
Maybe it's his first time around

Ooh! another easy one! But I'm going to hold off, except to hint at the artist, and hint at the video:

"troubled waters" more diminutive half.

SNL car make danced.

Well, the idea was to let someone else have a go, so as not to dominate or have too many turns, so I'll still hold off for a wee bit longer. :)

Took me a little while but it came to me this morning.

Ok I've got one:

QuoteWell I gave him roasted toadstools,
And a glass of dandelion wine.
Then I put him on a train to Eastbourne.
Carried his bag, and gave him a fag.

Simon & Garfunkel one of my favorites, I hope no one minds but I have to include this song by them.

I don't mind you posting one of your favorite songs Carl, it's a good tune after all  :)

Has anyone got my last set of lyrics yet ?

Need a clue ?

Carl2

No idea from what you posted so far,  I did go and look through the music videos for some lyrics to post but haven't done that yet, nice game someone came up with.

The only thing that comes to mind is maybe something by the Waterboys.

All I get in my mind is something about trains and cigs. If I had to guess, I'd say late 60's, early 70's, but that's just a vague impression, and nothing solid. I rather pride myself on having a rather eclectic and wide ranging knowledge about music, but I know that I've only ever heard a bare smattering of what's out there. :)
