Freddy

Hehe, thought Dave would get this one if anyone. The song came out in 1965 and is often voted one of the best songs of all time.

Gonna give it away, but in more recent times the artist was also in a group with George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty and Roy Orbison.

DaveMorton

The group Travelling Wilburys comes to mind, but the song still remains a mystery, I'm afraid. I think it's to the point of googling it.
Safe, Reliable Insanity, Since 1961!

DaveMorton

You're right about me "should have" getting the song. Especially since I agree that it's one of the best songs of the era it was released in. No clue as to why I blanked on it. :-\

Freddy

Sometimes words out of context just don't trigger - I agree it was time for a Google  ;D

Yes it was Like A Rolling Stone from Bob Dylan.

Now does my...

Mick Jagger ? Kind of...

Make sense now  :D

Data

That was great cryptic clue Freddy, I feel that I should have got it.

OK, listening to the radio yesterday this classic song came on, not sure if it made it over the pond, was released in the UK in the late 70's.

QuoteFrom Milan to Yucatan
Every woman, every man

DaveMorton

Oh, I know this one, but I can't quite dig it out of my melon. It SOUNDS like "Dancing in the Streets", but isn't quite right. Let me think on it while I'm at the doctor's today.

Freddy

Now Dave says that I'm not so sure, but I will have a punt on...

Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick - Ian Dury & The Blockheads.

Data

Yeah you got it Freddy

Freddy

Yucatan is what stood out.  ;D

DaveMorton

Yeah, Yucatan was also sticking out for me, but only in that it sounded wrong for Dancing in the Streets. God on you, Freddy!

Freddy

Here's a new one :

QuoteRunnin' down the avenue
See how the sun shines brightly in the city
On the streets where once was pity

A cryptic clue for the band to go with it : A not very heavy assemblage of post steam age musicians ?

DaveMorton

Ok, so the band is ELO, but the words aren't ringing any bells, so I need to think on it.
Safe, Reliable Insanity, Since 1961!

Data

As soon as Dave said it was ELO I got it, great tune for the summer  8)

DaveMorton

Great job, Data! Glad I could nudge you in the right direction! :)

Freddy

Well done to you both, yes ELO Mister Blue Sky

I enjoyed making up the cryptic clue for that one :)
