Freddy

New one  :D

QuoteWhen I left my home and my family
I was no more than a boy
In the company of strangers
In the quiet of the railway station
Running scared,

Data

I've got an idea for this one but I'm not sure it's right.

Have you got one of your cryptic clues ?

Freddy

A clue...

QuoteFloats like a butterfly

DaveMorton

Muhammed Ali is all that springs to mind, I'm afraid. No clue.
Safe, Reliable Insanity, Since 1961!

OK looks like this is a toughie. The song was sung by a famous duo, and it was released in 1970.

Opening lyrics :

QuoteI am just a poor boy
Though my story's seldom told

Data

I know them lyrics, it's a Simon & Garfunkel song but I didn't know what it's called, did some YouTube searching and found it "The Boxer" now the clue makes sense  :D

Duh! I feel stupid now. Thanks for the challenge, Freddy, and well done, Data! :)

Have a go at this one chaps:

Quote
Pale blinds drawn all day
Nothing to do, nothing to say

Freddy

Data

Yes it is Bowie but which song  :D

Freddy

Thought it might be Ashes to Ashes but after singing it in my head a few times I reckon it might be Fashion ?

Data

I thought you had it there but no, it's earlier than both of them, think 1979.

Freddy

Sang it out loud a couple of times and it came back to me. I remembered "Blue, blue, electric blue..." too. It's Sound & Vision.

Quite tricky to recall, I thought it was Bowie straight away, I must have listened to his greatest hits hundreds of times back in the day and that's one of my favourite songs of his.
