Dr Feelgood ?

Dr Feelgood is a song, to be sure, but we're looking for a band.

Here's a hint:

One of this group's most popular songs was an "unofficial theme song" for the late 60's and early 70's, and the laid back counter culture poet, Shel Silverstein, wrote a lot of this group's songs.

That last was a HUGE hint, and has likely given it away.

 I did a search for Shel Silverstein and came up with Dr Hook and looked through his songs, but he also wrote songs for other people and bands. So far mothing that matches the lyrics.

I have to admit that the song is pretty obscure, but when you find it, it's sure to "lift your spirits".

The only Dr Hook song I can remember is When you're in love with a beautiful woman, but I don't think it's that.

  I kind of liked this game, I'll have to see if I can come up with another song.
