From your introduction post I think you'll fit in well, my house is almost fully automated with Alexa, it's 100% electric with solar and battery, I also worked in IT for many years,  it would seem we have something in common already.

I'm not as far into home automation as Data, but I do have an interest. I started making retro(ish) text games a while back too, just for fun.
