Just read this on BadAstronomy Blog...

Neil Armstrong has died aged 82. Dr Plait states it more eloquently than me.
"I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

RIP Mr Armstrong, a true legend.

Data

Yes a legend and an incredibly brave man.

I liked the statement from the family too.

Quote"For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink."

Many thanks from (ordinary) humans. 8)

Art

Yes, beyond the simple words of thank you Neil! RIP!

Snowcrash

The man who inspired a generation and took us from homo sapiens terrestrialis to homo sapiens cosmos.

I like that phrase. Long may he live in our collective memory.
"I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Rest in Peace? Seriously???

Neil, don't listen to these people! You've a whole new realm to explore! PLEASE! Get out there and EXPLORE!!! That's what God made you for!

And know that we poor, Earth bound folks miss you.
